The New Orleans 70.3 IronMan race is a triathlon race (swimming, biking, running). It’s a Half-Ironman length – 1.2 mile swim, 56 miles bike, and 13.1 mile run – for a total of 70.3 miles. Triathlon races are notorious as a test of discipline, strength and endurance. Individuals who compete in 70.3 IronMan races come in all shapes, sizes, and levels of ability, but all have one thing in common – the privelege of saying they are “made of Iron” when they cross the finish line. The year’s race will be held April 17th, 2011. It’s a fast, flat course that also serves as a qualifying race for the 70.3 IronMan Championships.
Individual racers and relay teams from all over the nation are needed to help raise awareness about the recovery of New Orleans through educating their cities and their communities, and supporting the ministry and good work of Contemplatives in Action.
